Filmmaker Mohit Suri, known for delivering hit romantic dramas like Aashiqui 2, has shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story from his latest film, Saiyaara. The film marks the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, and surprisingly, Ahaan had a key role in helping Aneet land her part.
Ahaan's Unexpected Suggestion.
In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Mohit revealed that when Aneet Padda first auditioned for the role of Vaani, he wasn’t impressed. He said bluntly, “I didn’t like her first audition. It didn’t work for me.” But Ahaan Panday, who had done a scene with Aneet, believed in her talent. He urged Mohit to give her a second chance. “Ahaan told me, ‘You’re distracted. Give her one more shot, she’s actually good.”
The Second Audition Changed Everything.
Taking Ahaan’s advice, Mohit called Aneet for another round of auditions. This time, her appearance and energy struck a chord. She walked in wearing a simple white shirt and jeans, and Mohit immediately felt she looked exactly how he imagined the character—“lost, clumsy, and real.” That raw authenticity won her the role.
Balancing Acting with Studies.
Mohit also praised Aneet for her dedication. During the film’s preparation and shoot, she was also managing her college exams at Delhi University. “I didn’t think she would manage both, but she proved me wrong,” said Suri with admiration.
Why This Matters.
The story highlights how:
1. A debut actor (Ahaan) helped shape the cast.
2. A fresh face (Aneet) proved herself beyond just talent, through hard work and persistence.
3. A respected director was open to second chances.
Final Thoughts
Saiyaara is more than just a love story on-screen—it’s a tale of teamwork and trust behind the scenes. Ahaan’s faith in Aneet’s abilities and Mohit Suri’s willingness to give her another chance show how collaboration and belief can shape a film’s success, even before the cameras start rolling.
